(Note: Tube can be any thickness.) Hole on left is 1-1/16” diameter. On right a zinc 1-1/16” diameter plug drops approximately 2/3 into the hole. Pressure, either hammering or hydraulic press will force the plug further into the drain hole.                                                                               **                                   Fig. 2![GVP](https://www.thesteelsupplyco.com/hs-fs/hubfs/GVP.jpg?width=276&height=444&name=GVP.jpg)** As it is driven into the hole, the malleable aluminum or zinc plug compresses and makes continuous contact with the 1/4” thick steel.   There will be some plug material showing above the steel surface. With proper grinding the plug will exactly match the height of the surrounding surface. A light coating of [galvanize spray](https://www.thesteelsupplyco.com/cold-galvanize) helps the repair completely disappear.
